Security & safety

Your coach cannot look up your child.

There is no button in CleatShare that shows anyone where a child is. Location is shared only inside a window you accepted, for one event, and it switches itself off. That is the whole design — not a setting you have to find.

Off until you say yes

Nothing shares by default. A coach can ask, per event, and you choose. Decline is the same size as Accept.

It ends by itself

Sharing stops at the time the coach set, or the moment you tap Stop. Nobody has to remember to switch it off.

Your child's phone needs your written consent

No link ever reaches a child's phone without a parent confirming it for that event. The consent is recorded and you can revoke it at any time.

The share screen a parent sees: which event, who can see it, when sharing stops, and Accept or Decline.
The actual request. It names the event, the end time, and who sees it.

Every rule, in full

Off by default
Nothing shares location unless a coach opens a window and you accept.
Time-boxed
Sharing works only between the window's start and end. It stops automatically at the end, or earlier if the coach ends it or you tap Stop.
Per event
Every window is a new yes or no. There is no “always on”.
No background tracking
Sharing runs on the page you keep open, and only while the window is active.
Who sees it
The coach sees consented adults. Parents see their own pin and the car their kid rides in, unless the coach explicitly opens the map to the whole team for that window.
Kids' phones only with a parent's logged consent
A parent must explicitly confirm per event before any link is sent to a child's phone. That consent is recorded and can be revoked at any time; revoking kills the link immediately. Coaches can disable child-phone sharing for the whole team.
Short memory
Live positions disappear when the window ends. Raw location pings are deleted automatically after a few days. What remains is a short “who shared / who declined” summary for the coach.

The rest of your data

Teams are invite-only: no public pages, no search, and kids’ names are visible to team members only. You sign in with a one-time email link that expires in 30 minutes and works once. The app and its database run on a single dedicated server we control, behind HTTPS. We do not sell or share data with advertisers.

You can see everything you are sharing, and stop it, from Account & privacy inside the app — including deleting your account and everything with it.

What it is not

CleatShare is not an emergency or child-safety system and makes no such claims. It is for knowing which car is running late — not a substitute for supervision. If a feature here ever reads as surveillance, we have built it wrong; tell us at [email protected].
